OnePlus Nord Vs OnePlus 7T

There are few brands as sleek as OnePlus, with a crucial focus on minimalism and functional efficiency the brand produces a range of smartphones that are stand out devices. Surprisingly this brand is from the same stable as Vivo, Oppo and Realme; all of whom are owned and operated by the BKK Electronics Corporation. This makes the parent one of the largest producers of smartphones the world over.

OnePlus lands on the user-friendly mark by following their focus of making their smartphone minimal and efficient. Their devices are based on the Android base with their own OxygenOS layered ontop. This added layer gives more customisation options compared to the bare Android. A great way to enhance the user’s experience.

The first time OnePlus produced something that is a budget device was with their OnePlus Nord. Before this, all their devices have generally been high-end products that are from a more expensive price point. Although not entirely cheap the Nord is relatively cheaper than the brand’s other options.

We’ll draw a comparison between the Nord and OnePlus 7T to see how these fare against each other, and what the differences are with their price point variation. You can buy any of it from shopsy.pk with best price.

Internal components for the Nord and 7T

For both these devices, the brand has used Qualcomm chipsets. These are the prime processors in the market today. With the Nord, OnePlus has opted for the Snapdragon 765G and for the 7T it is the Snapdragon 855+; these are both produced using the 7nm method. The difference is visible when one gets into the cores, the 7T processor is faster by a slight margin, but an ample enough margin for it to be noticed.

The Graphics Processing Units are from Adreno, with the 7T it is the Adreno 640 and for the Nord it is the Adreno 620. These are again built with enough of a step difference to factor in. The RAM and storage are more complicated specs, as both smartphones have options. The Nord is available with the combinations of 64GB storage with 6GB RAM, 128GB storage with 8Gb RAM or 256Gb with 12GB RAM.

On the other hand, the 7T has more limited options. This is more due to the fact that the RAM option is 8GB whether one chooses 128GB of storage or even 256GB of storage. In light of this, the Nord may perform faster despite its processor being from a slightly lower power rating.

Camera Systems

The camera modules are a triple and a quad, the 7T is the triple while the Nord is the quad. Although the sensors for the 7T are more powerful but the Nord just has one over it. The main sensor on the 7T is the 48MP f/1.6, the secondary is a 12MP f/2.2 telephoto and the final one is an ultrawide shooter which is a 16MP f/2.2 sensor.

The Nord’s main sensor is the 48MP f/1.8, with the secondary 8MP f/2.3 ultrawide, a third that is for depth sensing which is 5MP f/2.4 and the final one is for macro shooting which is a 2MP f/2.4 sensor. This combination is more diverse but as a whole, the shooting abilities are similar due to the camera app. The 7T will take better quality photos due to the higher pixel count it can reproduce. Still, it is a close call as they both have similar features such as HDR and Panorama.

The selfie cameras are a lot more different between the two. With the Nord championing this segment, it has a double sensor setup. The main selfie camera is a 32MP f/2.5 and the second sensor is an 8M f/2.5 which takes ultrawide shots on the front side. In comparison, the 7T has only one, a 16MP f/2.0 sensor.

The video shooting abilities the Nord is ahead as well. It has the ability to shoot 4K from both sides, but the 7T can shoot multiple frame rates from the main camera for 4K. This is either 30 or 60 frames per second. On both one can shoot 1080p at 30, 60 or 240 frames per second from the main camera. They both also feature a gyro-Electronic Image Stabilization system which makes ones shots a lot more smooth when one is moving around.

Minimal Display Differences

For the most part, the displays on both these smartphones are similar. They both feature a 90Hz refresh rate, which is quite high and works well for gamers or for people watching videos. The Technology that creates these visuals is the Fluid AMOLED and the resolution between them is also the same at 1080 x 2400 pixels.

Where the difference comes in is the size, which also affects the pixels per inch. The Nord has a screen which is a tad smaller than the 7T. The sizes are 6.44 inches versus 6.55 inches. This brings the Nord’s pixels per inch to 408 while the 7T has 402 pixels per inch. Essentially this difference in size works better for the Nord as it is able to pack more pixels into a smaller space, making for a better display.

Both the displays are protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass.

Connectivity & Sensor Options

Another field that these smartphones are quite similar in. They both feature WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, Radio and for the porting they both have USB Type-C. The dissimilarities are with the GPS and the USB versions. The OnePlus Nord also features access to the Indian satellite system known as NavIC, so it has one extra system it can tap into compared to the 7T. The USB version on the 7T is 3.1 while on the Nord it is 2.0. Both also feature the USB On-The-Go option and dual-SIM is a shared feature as well.

Sensors play an important part in how smartphones are able to function. These both feature the same systems as far as that goes. They both have an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a proximity sensor, a compass and a fingerprint reader that is screen embedded.

Neither models support the 3.5mm audio jack which is a bit of a setback as people still own headphones with the cabled system, instead of the new wireless variants.

The Main Difference

The size and weight differences are literally so minute that they do not factor in, but what does is the pricing. This is something that is a large factor in decision making. The 7T was released the year prior to the Nord and was not planned to be a budget offering which is why despite being a newer smartphone the Nord is cheaper. The margin is about Rs. 10,000, with the OnePlus 7T costing that much more than the Nord. This can vary somewhat if one chooses the higher storage and RAM options.

In the long run, the Nord seems to be a winner as it is powerful and is still cheaper by a fair margin. Also, being a newer model it will have better optimisation naturally.
